A great day to celebrate in Croatia, since there are already 1000 people who have applied for the Digital Nomad visa so far.
Since its introduction in early 2021, the Croatian digital nomad visa has facilitated residence and stay options for remote workers in the country and quickly positioned Croatia as an increasingly attractive destination for digital nomads. Frequent online surveys evidence this, as well as the promotional events that have taken place in the country in recent years, and the success stories shared by nomads who have already had Croatia’s digital nomad staying permit experience.
Today, an important milestone has been reached, and that demonstrates once again that the efforts of both the public and private sectors and affiliated organizations are having results. As the President of the Digital Nomad Association Croatia, Jan de Jong, shared today on Linkedin, the Nomadlist web portal has confirmed that Croatia ranks second behind Japan as the most loved country. A thousand applications for the stay permit of digital nomads reinforce this data and confirm the great success of this initiative.
It is also worth mentioning that, added to the large number of applications received to date, in August alone Croatia has welcomed 4,200 nomads, and this shows that the number of remote workers arriving in Croatia is vastly higher than the received applications. This is because it is not necessary to apply for a permit if one holds an EU passport or if one plans to stay in Croatia for no more than 90 days.
Croatia continues to prove that it is an attractive destination for remote workers around the world, but also for those citizens of the European continent affected by the war between Ukraine and Russia. Of the 1,000 applications received, up to 60 different nationalities can be found. These are the top 5 nationalities that have applied for the digital nomad visa in Croatia:
1. Russia
2. Ukraine
3. United States
4. United Kingdom
5. Canada
We hope that the successes continue to come and DNA Croatia appreciates not only the love shown by nomads from all over the world, but also the tireless efforts of all those who have made this possible!
