Central Istria welcomes Digital Nomads once again, as four of them will compete as a team to make the best sausage at Sveti Petar u Šumi this weekend, and break a world record as well!
On March 18-19, the international fair ”s Klobasicom u Europu” will be held for the ninth time in the picturesque town of Sveti Petar u Šumi, considered the largest ”city of sausages” in Croatia. For several years, the fair has been conceived as a joyous celebration of the production and sale of traditional Croatian sausage products. Thus, in the heart of Central Istria, hundreds will gather to honor one of the most precious elements of Croatian gastronomy.
In addition to a rich program that will include activities, entertainment, music shows, attractions, and a varied gastronomic offer, the fair will also include the 7th sausage competition, in which ten competing teams must make the best sausage, which will be chosen by a special jury.
And to close an extraordinary weekend, a historic feat will take place, in which the participants will break a world record by making the longest Istrian sausage in the world, with a length of 333 meters!
And you may wonder, why is all of this exciting the digital nomad community in Croatia so much? Well, because we will be very well represented in the Sausagefest!
Among the ten teams that will compete to produce the most delicious sausage, one will be made up of four digital nomads, who will put their culinary skills to the test. Up next, we present them to you.

And last but not least, over ten Ukrainian digital nomad visa holders will join us to participate in this year’s Sausagefest, with one of them competing with the DNA team to make the best Istrian sausage.
These four digital nomads will try to put the name of remote workers up on top, with the goal of becoming champions in a first-ever appearance by a team of digital nomads in the competition.
But, more importantly, the joint commitment of DNA Croatia and Central Istria to the activity of digital nomads in the region will be reaffirmed. A collaboration that has been building for several months with the aim of promoting a new and authentic rural lifestyle for remote workers, which includes abundant culture, world-class gastronomy, and unique landscapes. Central Istria welcomes Digital nomads once again, and this time in a gourmet fashion.
Through the award-winning Digital Nomads in Residence program in December 2022, leading voices in the future of work and the future of tourism explored the heart of the peninsula with the aim of co-creating a blueprint for remote work in a rural region. The event allowed the attendees to co-create an action plan to boost tourism potential in the region and lay the foundations for a fruitful collaboration between the digital nomad community and Central Istria, which now continues with the participation in the Sausagefest at Sveti Petar u Šumi.
And last but not least, to the generous support of Sveti Petar u Šumi for allowing the digital nomad community to be a part of this historic event.
If you wish to attend the fair (at your own cost and organization), send us an email to community@dnacroatia.com to register your attendance. Due to the great anticipation and interest in this year’s event, we strongly recommend reserving your place early.
