The stunning town of Postira, on the island of Brač, is gearing up for the 7th World Championship in Olive Picking, which will take place from October 10th to 13th, 2024. This year’s event is particularly exciting as it marks the 4th consecutive year the Digital Nomad team will compete. Teams from across the globe, including Germany, Slovakia, USA, Serbia, Lithuania, Poland, Ireland, Albania, Sweden, UK, Switzerland, Peru, and Croatia (current champions), will join in this friendly yet competitive event, where tradition meets global collaboration.
The Digital Nomad Team: Blending Modern Work and Tradition
Among the teams competing this year, the Digital Nomad Team stands out as a symbol of how modern lifestyles can coexist with centuries-old traditions. Representing the remote working community, the team features:

- Katarina Deletis Tomas (USA/CRO)
- Jure Tomas (USA/CRO)
A Truly International Event
With teams hailing from Germany, Slovakia, USA, Serbia, Lithuania, Ireland, Albania, Sweden, UK, Switzerland, Peru, and Croatia (the current champions), the Olive Picking World Championship is a true celebration of international camaraderie. This year’s event also sees the return of Poland, who won two years in a row in 2021 and 2022, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.
Participants will gather in Postira to test their olive-picking skills and share their love for olive oil, a symbol of peace, tradition, and friendship across the Mediterranean and beyond.
Event Highlights: A Unique Blend of Culture and Competition
The 2024 championship will kick off with a welcome dinner on October 10th, where each team will introduce themselves, sharing their unique connection to olives and olive oil. From there, the competition heats up on October 11th, when teams will pick olives for 45 minutes, followed by a quiz testing their knowledge of olive oil. The day will conclude with a traditional lunch at Dol Ethno Eco Village and the weighing of the picked olives.
An excursion around Brač is planned for October 12th, followed by the Award Ceremony Dinner, where participants will showcase traditional foods from their home countries in a joyful celebration of culture and friendship.
