Hepicentar, a creative and cultural industries hub in Makarska, opens its doors to local associations, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, and freelancers, offering an ideal environment for collaboration and innovation.
In the heart of Makarska, Hepicentar – a new coworking space and creative hub – has officially opened its doors. Spanning 200m², Hepicentar provides a vibrant environment tailored to the needs of local associations, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, and freelancers, facilitating the development of innovative ideas and fostering community collaboration.
After over two decades, local associations in Makarska finally have a dedicated space for creating, meeting, and collaborating. Located on the ground floor of PC Sveti Nikola, Hepicentar offers free access to associations and promotional rates for the private sector during its first year of operation.
At the grand opening, Mayor Zoran Paunović expressed his enthusiasm: “The Creative Ideas Center was one of our campaign promises, and today we are here to open this space together. I hope you feel comfortable here, exchange ideas, and create added value for our city.”
This initiative began following a comprehensive analysis conducted by the Department of Public Needs and Social Activities, which surveyed around 40 associations, institutions, and private companies. The findings revealed that more than half of the associations lacked adequate space for their activities and were willing to share facilities.
The space’s design and equipment were developed based on these needs. The Makarska Development Agency MARA, known for its extensive collaboration and consulting with civil, private, and public sectors, has been entrusted with Hepicentar’s management.
Deputy Mayor Antonia Radić Brkan highlighted the importance of the new space: “Creating quality working conditions for our associations is crucial for the development of our city and society. We also considered new trends and our guests, especially digital nomads. Hepicentar offers a welcoming environment where they can feel at home, work efficiently, network with like-minded individuals, and immerse themselves in local culture. It fosters a sense of belonging and encourages the exchange of knowledge and experiences from around the world.”
MARA Director Mladen Buvinić also shared his vision: “We are honored to manage Hepicentar. Our goal is to make it a local hub and an inspiring venue for various social and business events, including mini-conferences, workshops, performances, and startup offices.”
Hepicentar is now open and ready to welcome digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and local associations. For more information about the space, rates, and booking, please contact the Makarska Development Agency MARA at info@mara-makarska.hr and +385 21 766 901, or visit their website.
