The new publication by Sunčana Tuksar and Henry Jenkins has just been published by the University of Pula. It is meant for students and creative professionals, but also for all those interested in film, fashion, stories, communication, and adaptation processes. Digital nomads could benefit from the book too, as it provides a pop cultural setting for young professionals working in different cultural surroundings.

From a young age, we are introduced to stories and images that reflect and shape our lives. Today, digital technologies, entertainment, and popular culture are at the centre of our lives, our sense of reality is conditioned by screens. The stories told in our culture by Vivienne Westwood, Lars von Trier, Madonna, David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, and many others have marked our era and for decades have shown the power of communication between different media.
Imagine you are on a pub quiz. Do you know what transmedia storytelling is? What was Madonna’s first hit? Which photographer is famous for working with David Bowie? Can you name five leading film franchises based on a comic book or book? Can you guess how fashion and film communicate thanks to the Oscars? Do you know who was the first punk designer? Can you list the names of the members of the Supergroup of the world’s most famous models? And finally, what is the common denominator for all of the above? You guessed it, the answer is popular culture.
We live in the age of media and media phenomena. In a great discovery of new ways of sharing stories, this book follows such a concept in search of the meeting point of creativity and science.
